[Question] 2013 Si Wheels on 2015 Si?

Hi everyone. I'll get right to it.. and I apologize if this question is dumb, lol..

I can't stand the 18s on my 2015 Si and much prefer the look of the 2013 Si's 17 inch wheels. IF I were to do a direct swap with another Si owner, would there be any ill effects from doing so? Thanks!

You could put 2013 wheels on your car no problem. On the flip side, a 2013 owner couldn't put your 2015 on their car without issue. You don't have a tpms unit inside your wheels, so if a 2013 owner tried to run your wheels, they'd get an error on their imid. Your car doesn't need the sensors in the wheel.

collegehillshonda has said the 2012/13 wheels have a notch in the inside of the rim to counter balance the weight of the sensor in the wheel. Your wheels wouldn't have that notch, and they wouldn't have sensors inside. In theory they may be able to get sensors to mount inside the wheel, but they may have a hard time getting the wheels to balance, or they'd have a bunch of wheel weights on the rim to get it right?

long story short, you'd be able to run the 17's. Your tpms programming doesn't require the sensor in the wheel.

You could try. They just may have to add some extra wheel weights to the wheel when it's balanced. Collegehillshonda test mounted a non-tpms wheel with a tpms inside to see if it'd mount on the inside of the rim properly -

Indirect TPMS
New for some Honda vehicles starting in 2013, indirect TPMS uses the vehicle’s ABS/VSA (Anti-lock Braking System/Vehicle Stability Assist) wheel speed sensors to calculate tire pressure. This method looks for changes in rotation or resonance that indicates low tire pressure. The system requires calibration any time the tire pressure is adjusted, if a tire is replaced, or if tires have been rotated. Vehicles with indirect TPMS have a calibration button located in the vehicle to initiate the calibration sequence.

Nope. As far as I'm aware the Canadian Civic does not come with TPMS, at least the Si does't. Not even as an option.

Also your speedometer might be off by a couple mph, my 17's throw my speedo off by 3mph lol

Oh, yeah good point. I did manage to find a local guy looking to sell his 2013 17s, but the tire tread was less than 20%.

I'm sure as the tires wear the accuracy of the speedo changes as well.

It will also set off the indirect TPMS system. I rotated my tires and checked the pressure but didn't recalibrate the system and it went off on my drive to work the next morning.

Well, there's always plastidip. I may try that
