Yeah, we haven't used movers the last two times we've moved. We won't be this time either.

That would be the case if I didn't live on the third floor of an apartment building and have half-staircases (tight turns) instead of full ones. Also, there is a corner right outside my door that is hard to maneuver. Best to leave it to the insured "professionals" as I don't want to get mad at my friends for dropping my dresser 20 feet. lol

we were on the 2nd floor with a terrible staircase. Our friends moved our washer and dryer in and out. Then got it into our townhouse UPSTAIRS in a really thin staircase.... it was crazy LOL

I'm happy that your nightmare is almost over. I now know what to look for when I finally leave my parents house. Water damage/weird spots being painted over.

Welp, moved last Saturday and finished unpacking Tuesday night. All that's left is mounting my rear surround speakers.
Movers cost me around $700 total; they had a difficult time with my enormous dresser and retarded staircase at the old apartment and other big items that took a long time. We moved all the boxes ourselves and packed a bunch of non-breakable items in 59 cent IKEA bags.
All i'm waiting for with the old apartment is my pro-rated June refund and final water bill.

Glad everything worked out for you...but man, I thought of you this morning.
We woken up early this morning to the fire alarms going off in the townhouse. I shot out of bed and looked for a source...no smoke.
Went into the guest bedroom...and water is dripping from the alarm at a decent rate (a gallon an hour). Husband had to unplug the the alarm from the wall to stop it going off and got electrocuted in the process
It turns out that it'd been leaking for quite a while before it got to the alarm. The attic is soaked, half of the bedroom carpet in the bedroom below is soaked...it's still leaking from the ceiling. It's leaked into the garage below that bedroom and along the wall to the front porch.

Shouldn't be our problem, we're just renters.
Anyone in the Atlanta area that wants a free Sony 36" wega tv in perfect condition with remote,let m know.There is a catch though,you have to come and get it,it's in my loft and 2 flights of stairs and down a flight outside my deck.weight is 126 lbs,if you bring a big movers blanket and packing tape it will make it easier.2 strong people should do fine,It is truly like new excellent picture,I just need it moved out.

You quoted the weight of a 32". If I recall right, those 36" bastards weigh in the 160-180 lbs range.
My friends hated me for having one when it came to moving, which at the time I was moving around every year or two. Best way to carry one of those is to lay it on its face to better distribute the weight.
All in all, it was an awesome TV. A gave it to a friend with the condition that he had to come get. Of course I helped him move it, too. Hard to believe how much those things cost when they first came out.
Maybe it is heavier,real front heavy for sure,I got that baby on sale for 999 back in 2004. Of course 42 inch plasmas were sale priced at 3899 with a sweet 4 inch bezel and 3 connections,so I went with the cheap setup.i offered it to my ac tech today,he seems to think his father would want it( fingers crossed) I need the room...

I bought my 32" in '98. It was the high end XBR model. I ended up getting a steal at $1700. Retail was $2200. Sadly, I paid less for my first 32" LCD TV at about $1300 in 2006.

Can't your mother give you some helpful information? Just because its a different county, she prolly sees this all the time. The easiest least scary court on earth for a regular person is prolly landlord tenant court. Go there and ask for help. [I say this with 36 more unread messages in the thread, and hoping you've already moved out to a better situation in the meantime.]

The bathroom (dual sinks woo), walk in closet from bathroom
and of course the garage. It's a good 2-3ft wider and maybe 3-4ft longer. door opens to the hallway so I don't have to walk in the rain to the car. Got my fan mounted on the wall and some shop towels. Wish I would have had this much room when I did the springs

I ended up talking to the regional manager, who assessed the situation and decided that letting me out of my lease was the best option. I moved to another complex with the same management company, where the local management at this complex is much better and the property is in much better shape. They waived my fees (minus deposit). Costs me around $130 more a month in rent, but I also have around 200 more sq. ft. and a 2nd bedroom/den, along with about 15-20 years newer apartment.
