Just curious if anyone here has a '13 Accord LX with the CVT. Else, the Sport, but my questions is specific.

When there isn't the paddle shifters for use:
How well does your transmission shift for you?
How does it do when coming to a stop?
When you are traveling slow speed?
Do you like how the transmission acts?

I have seen a few videos and it seems like the only time it has that "rubberband" sound was when the person was "flooring it" and the car had an initial wavering of the rpms until it hit redline.

That's another question. I know that Honda engines are built to take higher rpms, but how often is "safe"? It seems to me like you would want to stay away from the redline as much as possible.

That's it for now, . . . thanks. If you have any other comments, I would appreciate it.

the accord's CVT behaves very differently from CVTs past. honda's engineers studied the g-force loading during acceleration between a typical CVT and a traditional auto and found a way to tune the CVT's response to make it feel more like a conventional auto. as far as the rpms, the CVT is still tuned for efficiency, so like the regular autos, it tries to keep rpms as low as possible. test drive the accord, and i think you'll find it drives a lot like a regular automatic, in that feels like it shifts between gears depending on throttle position, but it's much smoother and responds much faster (at least in my experience with the sport).

although i still miss my manual transmission at times, coming from a 2012 civic, i'm very happy with my accord. if you can afford it, i'd choose the LX accord over any of the civics except maybe the Si, which you can't get with an auto

Thanks for your input mikey. The Accord LX will be on the short list of potentials. I doubt I will ever get on the gas to the point where it reaches redline, but will give it a good test drive when that time comes.
