If it's anything like the 8thGens, then the panel your removing actually helps hold the top black panel you see in the pic. Almost a "structural" part of the entire door card.

If you want a flush look then your prob looking at a 30-35 offset.

I've used some rust oleum "airplane finish" remover on wheels plenty of times. Works great but itchy when it hits the skin.....

Installed....going to see a out doing the fronts tomorrow. The fronts use the same type of bracket but the sit horizontally to the car whereas the rears sit perpendicular to the car. Might have clearance getting to one of the bolts.
