I'm note sure if this is the right place for this question so mods feel free to move if not.

My salesman said to just leave Eco mode on all the time beaches it saves gas and theres no performance difference when it's off. I was reading the owners manual and it suggested different. I turned Eco mode off today for a ride around town and it seemed peppier and like it waited longer to up shift.

Is there really a performance difference or is it just a placebo effect??

The first 10% & last 10% of the throttle is not adjusted when the ECON button is on. But when it is on it makes the AC unit to blow a little less cold & has the transmission advance in gears earlier to let the mechanics of the gears move the car forward more so than revving up the RPM’s & then shifting.

Despite what the vid says, the car will feel more powerful with the econ off. It's not a placebo. The car will drive differently with it on/off.

I think I will just leave mine on all the time... Just returned from a 1400 mile trip and averaged 36.8 running at 75 and 80 MPH.

I just got my Non Si Coupe a couple of months ago(4000m now) And have run it every which way but loose....... Here's things I've noticed..... In Eco it's acts like a normal under powered car and can also have some hesitation when you don't want it/or don't need it to act that way....... but if you want it to act more like a normal car you can just shift into D3 (mines automatic) and with the straight it might act more normal in the lower gear when needed..................... But if you want it to drive like it's got some power take it out of Eco and use the gears and rpm's and it has no problems with power or hesitations, and I can still get over 30mpg (I did a Eco run as well and never got under 40mpg keeping it in cruise and using D3 on occasion)...... Hope this will help, could save you some money not having to try all the different stuff to get where I got.......
Is yours str/auto ?

Eco mode is a scam. I see no difference in millage. Except that when it's on It feels sluggish.

^ Yah Ive turned eco mode on a few times and according to my dash live MPG meter, it doesn't help at all. sometimes it seems to actually make it worse. also makes the car feel weak

As a repeated 45 mpg getter on the hilly SW Virginia roads, I found a method that works.....
I'll use the combo of cruise-control and ECO. When I get to a up hill, I'll click off ECO till I reach the summit, then click it on until the next up hill.......... Works for me.
Note: When ECO is on, it will prioritize economy, which we find that the car won't maintain it's speed up hill, but will get up the hill as economically as possible............ With ECO off, the car will prioritize maintaining it's speed.... So it takes some planning on the drivers part to work with the system to get the most savings from it.
You can see on the immediate gas-use gauge the difference at the time you turn it on or off.(like I said, I can get 45 mpg).

I am excited to try out your suggestion about the uphill. Although I feel I get better MPG with out cruse control and just be as easy as possible. I have seen some high numbers, but you have to have the absolute best conditions to see numbers like these which is not realistic.

I think the difference with mine and a lot of others, is the over all mileage reading that goes with the mpg readings.
300 miles total is staying away from stop lights, and signs. Other wise it's normal hilly roads of SW Virginia. This is not the only time I've gotten this, It is the best though. I can get over 40 to 43 on a routine basis on back roads.

Yeah I am no master when it comes to MPG, & I hope your method will work for me because my Average is not exactly "Bragable" haha. I will try to monitor the change & hopefully be able to report something similar to your results, although most my driving is city (70% City / 30% Highway would be my estimate)

Now that weathers better. I was getting on average 12L/100km. no highway all city with -20 weather. It was at 8•c when I got the 6.7L/100km. Best I got without having a pic was 6.1L/100km. No Idea what that is in miles.

As far as my mpg in mixed traffic and waiting in drive-troughs, I'm usually getting anywhere from as low as 31 to as high as 36. This is also using econ on and off though out the tank, and I always run my AC(even if I'm heating or cooling....Less humidity).

But I'm not living in a congested area to start with, and being retired I choice to not drive most of the time when "Our" rush hour is happening...... Just to be fair.

Riding in city traffic does take a lot of pre-thought on when and where to have the econ on or off....... But.... Being ocd, I love having to think about it, occupies my mind.

If you put a full tank of effort into doing it, I'd love to hear your results.

Thanks bro. I'm useless with the conversion to mpg. But I understand the mpg better than the L/100km
