Anywhere from 5,000 to 7,500 miles seems to be the norm depending on where you live and how you drive your car.

5000 miles, I see. In the future I live near my work location so I'll walk to work every week, the mileage will rack up slowly. It'll be difficult to reach that threshold even in one year.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you located? Somebody here might be able to help you out. I have a truck and trailer and tow cars all the time, but I'm in Boise, Id. I have towed cars from here to Sacramento, Ca, which is about 550miles one-way. Then pick up another car and bring it back. It usually runs me about $300 in fuel each way.
