Turbotax Customer service fail

This is more of a rant than anything else..

I am trying to use turbotax this year. They are so terrible this year. I am apoplexy-ily outraged. Holy crap are they bad!!!

So I am a 2010 user, great.

Today I get a discount coupon - 30% off - great sign up. Get a code

Go to register - can't log into my old user name. Great - create a new profile.
Okay, can't load prior year's online file unless using your old profile as an online user can't save your file to desktop
Okay WFT #1

Look for help - not much, I see some users complaining of this - use IE instead of FF etc. No help.

Hmm Let's call them.
Phone number gives me another number to call. Great WTF #2
Calls long distance to other number. Other number tells me to go check their website. WTF #3
Calls original number, presses 0 a bunch of times gets nothing. WTF #4

Goes to website
Connect with us - call us (please don't!) Huh? WTF #5
Chat with automated answer agent - please help
I can only help you if you subscribe to our super premium product and even then my answer is irrelevant - was my answer helpful? WTF #6

Tries to log into my old account - password not working
Reset - need secret answer or we can't reset anything to you WTF #7

So I've got nothing but a charge to my credit card from these wack jobs. What a joke!

call phone # on back of cc and fight the charge if they're not willing to help you. Most cc companies will side with you, if they won't fix your issues.

I'm not promoting H&R, but I keep seeing ads for free simple tax prep. Granted if you're taxes are more complex, they're surely going to charge.

Sorry webby - its not worth it for me to pay someone to do it - I am an accountant - $14 should be what it costs to do a return. Plus mine's very simple.

I'm going to try again next week with the phone, otherwise I will call the CC and go with the other tax software. Just really stupid.

From people I've spoken to since - 1/3 others had this same issue.

H&R is free is you have 1 W2 and that's it. Anything more complex than that and your at $100+.

I usually go there and last year they had a promo to do it free if you came in before a certain time. My guy told me most of the people that come in won't qualify for the free thing. lol

agreed, that's why I didn't know how complex his taxes were. Obviously the goal is to get you in the door with the free promo. Even if you do qualify for the free taxes, they also offer instant payout for a fee. Like, if they determine you're getting $1k back in returns, you have the option of them paying you out on the spot. They take a % of the $1000, and you walk out the door with cash in hand without waiting for the gov to issue a check. A guy said you'd be amazed at how many people opt for the money in hand versus waiting for the full amount by mail. It's all free money for h&r when people do that.
