Supposed dead battery?

So yesterday I think I accidently forgot to shut off my headlights. When I went out to my car this morning, the headlights flickered on when I hit the unlock on my key fob. typically only the corner Amber lights and the drls flicker on, never in my two years of owning the car has the low beam come on with it. A little confused, I tried the unlock again and the same thing happened. opening the driver side door I heard the beeping and immediately turned the headlights off.

the thing is, the car started up just fine. no lights were on when I walked out to it this morning. as far as I know, I dont have the automatic lights (13 LX). not complaining that my car somehow is still alive, but was wondering if any of you guys had similar experiences and could provide some insight on what happened

I was thinking there was an auto shutoff to save the battery from going completely dead, but I could be wrong.

There might be an auto shutoff. I don't know for certain but I left my lights on one night out bull shitting with some friends so we could see. I'm not sure how long we were standing there but all of a sudden the lights just shut off. I thought the battery died, but when I went to start it, it started right up.
I have a '12 ex. No auto headlights.

Hmm interesting. I read through the owner's manual and it never mentions anything about an automatic shut off. I left the lights on for more than 12 hours, so I was almost positive the battery would be dead. Now I'm wondering why Honda never bothered to mention a (IMO) cool feature. I've never heard of something like this before, even in higher end cars before.

I agree, It doesn't make sense. I know what I saw but I can't explain why. It could be possible that there was not enough power to keep the lights on but enough to crank. That was when I was running stock lights, not the HID's I have now.

I have a '03 Accord (as well as my '13 Civics). It never mentions the automatically shutting off headlights for my Accord like how I can adjust the time of shut off on my Civic, but they shut off after a certain amount of time as well. Must be just a pleasant surprise Honda built in.

I'm pretty sure it's a built in feature in most every car nowadays. My 99 grand Cherokee and 01 avalon both did it but can't say I looked to see it as a feature. Grandmas 00 corolla did it and that was a base model.
