'14 Civic Si - stock ContiProContact all-weather low profile tires..
I had a screw stuck in my tire. Took it in for a plug-and-patch job. When the tire shop was trying to remove the tire from the wheel, they said that instead of metal, they use a plastic tip on the tire machine, and that the sidewalls were so well stuck to the wheel that the plastic piece broke and their machine tore into the sidewall off the tire.
Now, they replaced the tire free and they even gave the matching opposite side at cost, but I was wondering if anybody experienced, or heard of, difficulty removing factory installation tires from the wheels.
I took the unbroken second tire back as spare, and I can see on the tire as well, that where they first punch in to peel the tire off the wheel, the lip of the tire is somewhat damaged.
They said that they must have used a lot of sealer at the factory.
