Didn't find it shared looking through the forums, but this is a cool story from *************. Car I loved back in the day '98 Integra Type R and a comparison to the '13 Civic Si coupe. Like the commentors on the ********* post I agree, these two different cars are close. But the Type R was built purposefully for track work, while the Si is the "sporty" Civic option for the masses. Good read and video though.

I'd love to see another ITRish type offering by Honda in the US market. It's still amazing that a 15 year old car still outperforms the only performance offering we have from Honda these days.

Whats weird is i read this story this morning without even seeing this thread! As well as a few other articles, they compared an BR-Z to and Si and after a close race the Si came out on top. Auto guide has some cool stuff.

I think people are too picky for the Type-R now. Or even a new type-r variant. They talk of thinner floor mats and lack of sound deadening to lighten the car. People would have a riot today if their floor mats were thin or wore quickly. Same with the amount of complaints people would have if the cabin noise was any higher than it currently is.

I think the shift in the market is really what is holding back great performance cars. People just simply won't tolerate anything that doesn't have luxury type interior quality any longer. How many complaints were there about the 2012 interiors and they weren't even trying to make the car light with a purpose?

Thinner windshield? Hah, if people got a hold of that info now it would be a firestorm of complaints and warranty requests for any minor chip.

Just my take on it.

I would be curious if the new thicker windshields can even be installed on the '12s. Same goes for any of the thicker glass on the '13s.

What a shitty representation of a '98 Type R. They couldn't find an all original example? JDM wheels, paint peeling off the valve cover, '99-'00 Si shift knob...come on. An all OEM Type R is not difficult to come by.
