You'll need some form of forced induction. Subaru did a phenomenal job with the new WRX. It makes MORE torque SOONER than an STI. You won't touch them from a dig. The only FWD cars that can outrun a new WRX are MK7 GTI's.

GTI's do low 6's and cost near $30G - Car and Driver quotes WRX at 5.0 for $30G - Mustang V6 is $27G stripped but can pull a more "competitive" 5.5 sec 0-60 mph standing start.
If you want to "drive it like you stole it" for the price the WRX can't be beat - just don't plan on being comfortable on a trip with the family, or keeping it very long.

I agree - but what is the title of this thread?

True Car lists SE with the PP at $30K - if you get their advertised $1,800 off you're at $28.2k and you're still 1 second slower to 60, etc.

While I feel for you wanting to increase quickness... Who doesn't? I have owned a 2011 WRX limited and a 2012 STI. They are fun, but gas mileage is way better on the SI when you are driving both in a "sporty" fashion. My STI boost kicked in at 3K RPM. That put me in boost on the freeway doing speeds greater than 71 mph. I love my SI, because it is a balance. I can DRIVE it and still get good overall mileage.

May be coming from left field but boost on an SI IMO can change the game and choices. The SI really has a great chassis to build on where the power lacks (IMO).

it's going to depend on how much you stay in boost. If you'd just drive around like normal, it's going to keep similar gas mileage. If you drive around at 7k constantly, it's going to drop.

I really am considering SC or turbo. I might consider selling my GSXR to get the deal done. I also am not the most mechanically savvy person and don't want to ruin the reliability of my car. It will be paid in full by the end of this year though

The car will be paid for by the end of the year? That's awesome news! What I did when I paid my previous car off was to continue making "payments" but put it in a different savings account so when I decided to buy my new car (almost 2 years ago now) I used that money towards a bigger down payment

That's up for debate. It's fun, but I am not SUPER attached to it. We are planning on using the extra payment from my car to pay off the suburban faster
