I just purchased the 2012 LX because i wanted a 5 speed manual transmission (EX is automatic only). Unfortunately only the EX comes with alloy wheels. Can anyone recommend a good place to look for alloy wheels to upgrade the LX? how much is this going to cost me. Hondas website says that to upgrade the LX 15" wheels to 16" alloy wheels is $1600. thanks for your advice. Nick

if you wait a little bit, you'll probably find people swapping out wheels - and putting oem wheels up for sale. If you want the oem honda wheels, collegehillshonda is probably going to be the place

Again, if you wait a little bit, you can probably pick some up even cheaper, but it's an option. Collegehills has been a vendor here, and with 8thcivic for 5+yrs - solid reputation.

or www.tirerack.com for non-oem wheels. CHH are the best for OEM as mentioned above. :)

Congrats on your purchase!

Did you want OEM honda wheels? The steels you got make great snow tires. The steel seals better in the cold than alloy is what i've heard from a couple wheel places. Less leakage... I could be wrong. In any case.....

There are lots of places to get wheels just depends what you want.....

Your stock size is 195/65r15 I believe on the LX

if you wanted to go up a size or two the best tire calculator out there is the one on miata.net
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

example: If you went with a 17" wheel you could run a 225/45r17 tire and it would be a perfect fit. Speedo would not be effected at all and your spare tire will still fit

Something else to consider... buy a good snow tire now, depending where you live, and get a second set of wheels and tires in the spring.
Also....
You have rear drums. If you get a very open wheel design you will see the rusty brake drum. It looks bad IMO. I bought new drums and had them powdercoated over the winter and put the new ones on in the spring. You can always use caliper paint on them. They are relatively cheap for a much "nicer" look. I think around $30 for a drum.

Oh, I got 17's for $600, and tires for $750 total with tx & all the add-on lifetime mounting/balancing/road hazard protection. So you can get a better, lighter, bigger, and cheaper wheel and tire combo than the $1600 for 16's. Depends though. Nice car btw.
