Hey guys, pretty simple question, I am nearing 30,000 miles and wondered if I should go to the dealer for a complete checkup...valve timing etc. and possibly trans fluid change? I bought the fluid a few weeks ago, but man it looks like it is a real pain to change (and having never done it) I am a little cautious and not so much confident when it comes down to it.....anyways just let me know, I want my K24 to be here for the longhaul!

No need to take it in. You should notice if the valve timing is an issue as they will become noisy. If you can change the oil, you can change the transmission fluid.

easy enough...I thought I saw a video on the trans fluid, but cannot remember exactly where. I know there is some sort of hose involved though? Other than that I changed the air filter and am getting ready to change out the tires too. So that's all I can think of it needing for now.

I don't have a manual handy, but valves usually aren't even recommended for adjustment till 100k miles or later. It should say in the maintenece area of the manual. If it's like most hondas, you have a long way to go.

Okay great, thanks webby. I just want to be sure I am preserving everything as best as possible, so when I pass this vehicle along its as close to how it was when I first bought it.

Coolant usually isn't really needed to be changed till 100k in most cases but if you want to be anal about it i'd say 50k for a drain and fill of the radiator. If you want to drain the block that's your call. Engine air and cabin filters are usually on a as need basis. Different climates have different debris floating around and everyone sees "dirty" differently so just check and make the call your self. I would suggest cleaning the throttle body with some cleaner and a rag and if your feeling frisky do an induction service to clean the heavier carbon deposits out of the intake. A little searching on can show you how it can be done. If you don't feel like doing that then a fuel additive like Techron can help clean fuel injectors and valves. Clutch fluid can be done if not already done with the brakes. 3 years 30k miles is what i'd rec on brake/clutch. Other than just checking the car over mechanically your about good to go. Always check lights, if not for safety then it's not to get pulled over lol. Around here tag lights out is the biggest excuse to pull someone over.

Check the owners manual but as far as I know Honda coolant is good till 100k. I wouldn't change it until then or close to then.

Same with spark plugs, unless you're boosted. Then everything is out the window. Pull your cabin filter out and look at it. If it looks dirty swap it. They are like $10 at auto zone.

Thanks guys, I have already had the clutch and brake fluids done at Honda so other than the cabin filter I am thinking I should be good to go.

How is your new car? Any updates?

Yessir, I have a few pics and things I wanted to try and add now that I found my Nikon charger and can actually take some decent pictures. As far as a review of the car, the experience is pure. The ride is nice, since its just on springs but with the suspension tweaks along with other things the cornering, and acceleration just feel different from anything I have ever driven before. And Vtec is the most noticeable from any Honda I have ever had the pleasure of driving....it feels a little like a pound or two of boost kicking in it honestly does. All in all, 10./10 even though its been almost 2 weeks since I took her out. 100% worth the investment
