Today, the LA Auto Show revealed the all new 2016 Honda HR-V. It will be available in regions around the world, including Japan and Europe, but Honda is premiering the North American specification model in LA.

Built on the same platform architecture as the latest Fit (Jazz) sub-compact, the HR-V measures 169.1 inches long, 69.8 inches wide and 63.2 inches tall, riding on a 102.8-inch wheelbase, offering 100.1 cu. ft. of passenger volume (LX) and 24.3 cu. ft. of cargo volume with the second row seats up.

All models will be equipped with Honda's Magic Seat system that allows for multiple seating configurations and the ability to fold the second row seat completely flat for added cargo space.

In North America, the HR-V gets a 1.8-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine producing 138 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 127 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,300 rpm.

Standard models get front-wheel drive combined with either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Honda "G-design" shift logic, or a 6-speed manual, while the available all-wheel-drive system with Intelligent Control System is offered exclusively with a CVT.

damn, that's better styling than what I expected from a first generation crossover

I think it looks better than the CR-V personally

I actually like it, and since my wife does as well, I see one in our future when her Corolla Lease is up

Meh......

I guess Honda is worried about the temp comfort of the passenger. Do they really need 3 vents? Looks odd to me.....

Acura To Get HR-V Based SUV Named CDX?

Honda has filed a patent for the name "CDX" on February 11 and it’s said to cover “automobiles and their structural parts.” The source suggests the model is very likely to be an Acura version of the new HR-V small (Honda-badged) crossover.

Picking apart Acura’s crossover naming strategy doesn’t seem that hard. We have the RDX, MDX and now it looks like we’re going to have a smaller CDX according to a recent report.

If made, it would go up against the likes of the MINI Countryman, Buick Encore or the Mercedes GLA and Audi Q3.
