Problem after Intake Swap

Hello all!

I just put in a P2R TBS and a Takeda intake and at first I had Power Steering/Emissions/VSA/CEL but it turned out to be that the MAF wire was a bit loose. So I unplugged the battery terminal after reseating the MAF cable and no warnings/lights or anything bad on the next startup after that. Take it out for a drive and seems normal getting out of the neighborhood, but once on an open road and accelerating it does so much stuttering that it is just ridiculous. Half throttle, WOT, all give the stuttering effect and it is super annoying and I hope I can get rid of it.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks in advance!

What kind of car are you driving? Si? Regardless, take negative lead off and leave off for 5 minutes. Then reconnect and drive normally to allow sensors and ecu to re-learn. If problem persists, you may now have a hosed MAF sensor.

Yeah it is an SI, I literally babied the MAF sensor when going through the install. I'm really hoping that isn't it. :( I'll try it out again after another battery disconnect as your suggested. (I had just done this about 10 minutes before to get rid of the CEL/Other lights though.)

Also just for reference the battery ended up being disconnected for about 4-5 hours if that could assist in a diagnosis.

10 minutes should be enough. I can't imagine what else it could be. You need more expertise than I have. Good luck.

Let it idle for about 10 minutes after you reconnect the battery, that's what was recommended to me after each part I put on

Did this and it is MUCH better now, still feels like a stutter rarely when at higher rpms though, also when VTEC kicks in it feels like a stutter and then the power hits, it's much better than before but still not quite as I expected I guess. Perhaps with a tune it will be better...have to send data to Hondata tomorrow from my ECU since it ins't supported yet :(

A tune will prob help best. Have you double checked all your hose connections?

so you're running hondata flashpro / no tune? What map are you using?

Stock map, Hondata FlashPro doesn't support my ECU config yet, it's the first one Hondata has seen of it and I have to send them a dump of the ECU just waiting for a friend to bring a battery charger over tomorrow.

Yeah I doubled checked the hoses, took it out for a longer drive again and it's progressively getting better and better. I think once it's tuned it should be fine from the improvements I'm seeing today.

Thanks Nix, I'll pick up some the next time I clean/change the filter.

Did you put clamps on all the hose connections? I didn't at first and had idle issues, maybe that could be causing you issues too

Except the one that goes straight across from the piping to the engine yes. I haven't seen clamps on any install pictures on here or elsewhere and the directions also do not mention any there like they did with the other hoses and none of the OEM clamps fit that thing correctly -- almost broke one trying to use it with it. (The crank hose I believe it was?)

Plus, the car is almost back to normal now and also never had any idle issues, just issues when under medium/heavy acceleration. I'm thinking it was just the MAF sensor the first time I started the car after the install.
