Have you tried switching the mounting brackets?

Probably not so good. The problem is not as much the vinyl, but the glue. Glue doesn't go well with heat, so it might peel off easily.

What i've done in the past is tape up the area in form of the word, paint everything, remove the tape so the word shows, then clear coat everything
