hello! i’ve got a 2012 LX coupe (R18) and this is my build.
truhart coils + tie bar (sway bar still needed)
Enkei EK98’s 16x7 21 offset
fog light kit
window visors + roof spoiler
diy clear headlights + tail lights (LED strobe)
hybrid racing shortshifter
catless header, muffler delete
kraftwerks supercharger
SI door cards (working on a black interior swap)
aftermarket headunit with carplay, eventually going to upgrade to a kenwood
hondata flashpro
more info re the supercharger (crosspost)
Was thinking of boosting my R18 and was originally planning on using something like the MakSpeed turbo kit, then found threads regarding the Kraftwerks/JR supercharger kit originally for the 2006-2011 civics.
After much debate i decided to take the chance and ordered the kit. With the help of an experienced fabricator and honda fan we were able to get the kit to fit with a few modifications and debunk some beliefs from the last known attempt at retrofitting the kit. Overall, the install took about 17 hours with two people.
Everything fits fairly well for the most part, i will add in a list of components that need modification/replacement to make the kit work, as well as things I’m still working on.
I was able to get a map for the 8th gens from kraftwerks themselves and rework it on flashpro for the 9th gens. Not sure about horsepower numbers or torque but it runs quite happily and is noticeably quicker in comparison to “FBO” R18 civics. A dyno tune is in the works for eventually getting done, in the meantime I have been street tuning.
PARTS THAT FIT:
- charge piping
- supercharger core
- intercooler
- injectors + pigtails
- supercharger oil system
- oil cooler
- BOV
PARTS THAT DON’T FIT(at least directly)
- intercooler mounts (need a little bit of fanagling to fit)
- alternator belt
- radiator fan (pass. side, needs to be replaced with a smaller one, not a hard swap)
- alternator bracket (needs a hole re-drilled)
- pass. side motor mount needs modification for the SC bracket to fit, not too bad
THINGS NEEDING WORK
- further revisions on the tune to get the fuel trims and boost just right
- lowering IAT’s (diy heat shield or something)
- replacing clutch (ordered a higher torque capacity one for imminent install)
- wrapping header (lowering IAT’s and entire bay temps)
also, the stock fuel pump works fine (up to 300hp) but 89 at an ABSOLUTE minimum (91+ recommended) is needed for preventing misfires, and running 1-step colder spark plugs are a smart choice as well. I used a set of NGK’s from the R18 CNG model we got in Canada and they work well.
i know this is definitely different and not a mod many will choose but i wanted to share some of my experience this far. any questions, please ask!
