Well im down with buying it if you wanna sell it for cheapish at some point

Ya but if you sell it you can't use the tune it needs to unlocked
 
No what I'm saying is once you unlock it from your car to sell it your tune can't even be used on your car it will go back to factory.
 
How will my car go back to factory? If I leave it unplugged and unlock the unit the current tune should stay no?
 
Nope once you unlock the FP it reverts the ECU back to It's original state.
 
The tunes stay with the car even when it's not in it.
 
No FP locks in your VIN# when you install it once you do that you are able to tune the car if you unlock it from your car you lose your tune.
 
At least it does on my buddies 8th gen
 
Yeah but how will it reflash my ecu? I don't have to plug it into my car to unlock it

Once you plug it in and hit unlock its gonna send your ECU back to factory.
 
Well I may actually end up having to do that unfortunately. And put my stock dp back on too.
 
Ya if you sell the FP putting your factory DP is your best bet the car will throw a CEL and run like garbage.
