Pinstripes?

My si came with white pinstripes from the dealer. I personally don't like them but I know some people do (like my mother). I wanted to remove them but noticed that whoever installed them kindly took the liberty to cut the pinstripe while on the car. If I remove the pinstripe, I will be left with 4 noticeable slashes in my paint.

What are your personal opinions on pinstripes?
Does touch up paint really work for stuff like this and maybe nicks in the paint?

Is there any way you could talk to the dealer and show them the damage they did when they put the pin stripe on? That's paint damage regardless of whether you keep it on or not.

Personally I'm not a fan of pin stripes.

Can you get them for paint damage? I know for a fact that they actually traded a red coupe for that black one to sell to me. Is there actually a valid claim I can make against them for paint damage? Thanks!

If it was done before it was delivered to you new I would say so. I know I would be taking it back.

Its been 4 months now since I purchased, is it too late?

I would take it back to them and remind them that it was delivered that way and you didn't notice the damage until you were thinking of taking the pin stripe off.

Like I said, if it was delivered that way they should take responsibility.

I think it if it's right at each pinstripe start/stop, it doesn't really take a genius to figure out it was caused by the installer. I'd talk to the dealer.

Who should I ask to talk to at the dealership? I have my salesman's number but I don't think that's who I should talk to, is it?

I suggest to call the salesperson and set up a meeting with him and the manager. Show them the damage.

I'll get in touch with him tomorrow or Monday. Just afraid nothing will be done since car is already sold. Not much leverage.

If you're polite but stern you've got a 50/50 chance they fix it.......... If you don't ask you have 100% chance they won't........ :D

Let them figure out how to fix it. Most dealerships have a body shop. Any pic of what it looks like at the cut points? I guess it depends on how bad it's damaged.

It's hard for anyone to say it wasn't the installer who did that. Just go and talk to them. Ask them what they think. It's a start.

That's just sloppy sloppy work. Can you catch your fingernail in it if you try to run it across the scratch? It may be able to be buffed out. @RaskyR1 or @Nix ? Think that could be buffed out? - post 14 above

Not big enough to actually glide my nail but I can feel the indentation

post your zip code if you don't mind. If the dealership won't help you, rasky may be able to refer you to a detailer or someone who can.

yeah, and it's best to learn buffers on junk & make mistakes lol.
