Need to go catless so her is my question. I have seen all the different ones for the 9ths. I need one that looks like its catted due to inspections. It states a cat must be in place. Any vendors make a catless dp with the bump in it?

You either get catless or catted DP. You might fail inspection with catless. Do they have emissions inspection in VA?

No emission test in the southern areas. I need it to look like the catted but be catless. I mean they couldnt just take out the guts?

I'm pretty sure it is mandatory to have a cat in VA for visual inspection. So @Flippercon will have to get a catless one and get custom metal fab look like there is a cat. You could remove the "guts" of a catted one but I have not seen anyone do this before.

That's what I was about to ask.... why not a catted one? There isn't a huge difference in power and not only will you be able to pass emissions, those of us in traffic with you will thank you.

I highly appreciate people who run catted downpipes.

I was told by vit that i will melt the cat with this set up and possibly blow motor. I can always just swap back to this dp for inspection .

If the set up you're going for requires catless wouldn't it fail inspection wether you have a catted dp or not? i.e CAI-turbo-tune?

@323 has anyone told you about melting cats with the aftercooler? I know you haven't installed yours yet.

He said "eventually". Also others have melted them and got lucky. Im just going to drop another $300+ just for insurance

No wont fail inspection for that. Just for not having a cat.
So youll have to install/uninstall your DP everytime you have inspection? Why buy the RV6 and not just go for a catless DP then for inspection just install OEM back on? Also arent OEM and RV6 the same 2.5" why not just gut OEM?

Also rv6 is far from stock dp. It is 2.5 but less 90s and better flow vs OEM

I havent installed it yet but now i'm wondering if i've melted mine already...
I say this because the past couple of months it seems like my exhaust has gotten louder, a little raspy, and i get an exhaust smell if i have the heat on while stopped...
I thought it was just an exhaust leak but i've replaced 3 gaskets and bolts and nothing has helped.

Do you think that's a logical conclusion?
Also why i think this is a possibility is because i opted for the metal cat instead of the ceramic cat which has a lower melting point than ceramic.

In response to the OP, I've heard of people just poking a metal rod up the downpipe and breaking up the cat and taking it out to be able to pass visual inspection without having a cat.

EDIT: Not that i recommend doing that, just saying...
