Ok so I recently installed my takeda momentum intake on my 2012 Si and by recently to be more specific about 3 weeks ago. The first day I had it on the check engine light came on and when I tried accelerating it wouldn't so I decided to slow down and stop, turned my car off and back on and it went away everything worked fine but I did check the engine bay to see if anything looked wrong but nothing. Now 3 weeks later I went on a drive tonight, pushing my car through vtec in the gears on the freeway, CEL comes on, same thing happens, I get off the freeway and do the same procedure, everything is fine, continue on my drive through a canyon (which was very fun) then I go home and while going in a corner hot and revving again, at a lower speed this time, it comes on again!!! And same procedures done and then fixed, I made a 40 mile trip home, drove it nice and easy since I was scared. I don't know what it can be. What I didn't do when I installed the intake was disconnect the battery though I'm not sure if that could be the problem, another thing is when the CEL came on the car would shake when I tried accelerating so possibly a misfire?? Could I need new spark plugs because that's my guess, I haven't gotten around to check them but I will for sure now, my car is at about 13,000 miles and have never had anything like this happen, only other mods I have is a tsudo exhaust and a rear sway(which most likely is not the cause lol)
 
one of my friend have the same problem after installed the Takeda intake. What he did to fix the engine light was disconnect his battery for like 10 min and put it back on and never have a problem after that.

After reconnecting the battery, turn on the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes, the ecu well read and compensate for the increased airflow

Wouldn't come back or remain if it was? My friend and I worked on his gti, removed and replaced some things, hoses AMD cleared the codes with a scanner and few of them remained
 
All I'm saying is that I've seen people lose engines by ignoring CEL's

Would I still be able to see codes even if the cel isnt on? since It's only come on those 3 times and I try bringing it back to see if its a driving habit, or if it comes on at a certain speed but I haven't been able to bring it back

If the light is out but you didn't clear it or disconnect the battery-yes. Otherwise....no. FYI if you had a misfire the CEL would flash.

the CEL was flashing.. but why would it go away, my only guess at first is because of the new intake and I'm running either too rich or lean and since I didn't disconnect the battery I didn't let it "re compensate" for the different amount of air now coming in and everything after I installed it

Unlikely...a flashing CEL indicates a misfire fault that may damage the cat.
 
If I'm not mistaken, the tools honda uses at a dealership can pull old codes. I believe that's why he wrote this -

Well I haven't disconnected the battery, scanned it and no codes, what I did find out is where it says
MAF(g/s) its at 14.87 SO I am running lean slightly though I read somewhere that na engines r supposed to.run a little rich if anything

I would try disconnecting the battery before concluding that there is a big problem.
It's so easy and doesn't harm anything
