Well some sad news today, was over at a friends place yesterday and while we were there i parked across the front of his garage since i don't like parking on the street in his neighborhood and while we were in the garage i set a board down on top of a aerosol can and it started to go off and apparently it is a quite powerful insecticide and he panicked and went to open the garage door and throw the can outside, what he didn't know was the back end of my car was in front of the garage door and he ended up opening the garage door into the back bumper where it wraps around to the side and put a huge gouge into the plastic and also caught the top of the HFP rear skirt. Pretty sure the bumper will have to be replaced ,not sure about the rear HFP skirt

a good body shop might be able to do some plastic welding to fill that in clean it up and make it look like new. I had a small hole in a bumper from a low speed accident and they plastic welded instead of replacing, with paint it was just over $500.

benefit of the plastic weld is that it literally melts and bonds into the exiting bumper so its all one piece unlike bondo type fillers

Sorry to see that.

I'd drive it around to see what various experts think. Maybe even the dealer just to get their reaction too.

Weigh everything everyone says, then make a decision.

No, that doesn't need to be replaced. Any competent shop can use a urethane filler to fill in the gouge, sand and refinish both the cover and skirt. They will need to use a clearcoat that is 'flexed', that is mixed with a special flexing agent. I would figure probably $ 275-300 or so to fix an spray that properly ( remove cover and skirt from the car, and re-install after repair and paint )
