HVAC, Middle vents not blowing on foot and Dash mode

I never noticed this until just yesterday. I was wearing jeans on a hot day and wanted the AC to blow on my leg. I changed the mode to Foot and Front, And I noticed the middle two Dash vents don't blow with the foot mode selected. However when I change the mode back to Front only, all four of the dash vents blows. Just wondering if this is normal.

It's A Fast Pig!
Do you have the recirculate on? The foot vents are the intake for the recirc. If you have that and the feet on it does not blow very much.

This is with the fan speed all the way up?

It was on full. It's not that zero wind is coming out, But it's weaker than the far left and far right one.

Just to clarify, Do you mean with recirc and face and foot mode, the two middle one on the Dash blows weaker?

What I'm experiencing is that with full fan speed, and mode sent to "Face" only, all four dash vents blows strongly. But with "Face and Foot mode", the middle two "dash vents" drops wind a little (the far right and left "dash vent" still blows strongly) and the "foot vents" start blowing.

I forgot if the recirc was on. I'm out of town now for the labor day weekend and the car is at home now. I check and post when I return home.

It sounds somewhat normal but without feeling how much airflow your feeling it's hard to say. I'll check mine tomorrow to compare but with floor/face split you will see airflow drop some when trying to push the same airflow through and extra 2 outlets. I assume the floor plenums are connected to the dash centers vents more so than the outer vents so that might explain the weaker centers. If you had no flow then yea that's a problem lol

Okay I got home:

So basically like this:
Setting: Face Mode. Max Fan speed.
All four blows strongly.

Setting: Face + Foot. Max Fan Speed.
Far left and Far Face vent blows strongly.
Center Face vents blows about 1/2 of Far Left and Far Right
Foot Vent: Strong

Recirc or Fresh Air doesnt seem to make a difference.

This thread got me interested, so I checked my EX, everything works the way it's suppose to. Except.... that the far right dash vent doesn't blow any air at all..... I'll dig deeper into it, and see if something was messed with when the cabin filter was changed.....

Are you experiencing what I am with the Foot + Face split? I just hoping that a motor isnt busted.

I just checked mine moving it to wash it and it's perfectly normal. All 4 of my dash vents get weaker when split floor/face.

If there was an issue it would be with a door actuator, not the blower motor as it blows fine in any other mode. Take straw and blow threw it and see the speed of air you get on the other end. Add holes the same size up the straw (should look like a flute instrument) one by one. As each hole is added your end air speed should decrease as well as the amount of pressure due to restriction lessens. Similar event happens with your a/c system. Face has 4 openings for the blower motor to push air through. When adding 2 more at the SAME blower speed your flow will decrease among all of them. I bet just floor vents will push harder than floor/face.

All in all I wouldn't worry about it and not much you can do about it honestly.

There's no diff in air pressure when using/not using recycle.......... my foot/face both put out well.

Well.. My right side dash vent is fine, the butterfly door behind the directional guide vent was closed..... I thought that control was to adjust the up/down direction, but is actually the BF door..... All is good... :D

As I was about to suggest to check the "individual flow control knob" aka don't freeze the spouse out knob....

Checked mine because now you got me worried! Not having the same problem as you, or at least not as drastic as you are saying but they do become weaker with the splits

Might it blow "weaker" because the center vents also supply the under seat heat vents for the rear passengers?
