I'll start with just a few, in hopes you will add to the list.

Not crowding, such as the 2 to 3 sec. interval for following.
Not coming any closer to a stopped car that you can't see the tyres of the car in front of you.
Not getting any closer to the line at a intersection(if you're 1st in line) that you can't see the white line over your hood. (Reason for this one is two fold, easier to see the big picture before starting....... and since intersections are a prime breading ground for accidents, it puts us farther away from being part of someone elses mistakes).

Leave your signal on for 2 seconds before changing lanes, I never see enough people doing this, always turning it on mid turn and it only has time to flash once. Def an unsafe lane change.

Learn to read, anticipate, and prepare for situations.

- Expect there to be another vehicle you can't see, but could be hiding behind another car.
- The car waiting at an intersection will pull out in front of you.
- The deer that just crossed the road in front of you is the first of 10.
- etc.

Anticipate people turning out in front of you if they are sitting on a side road, and be ready to react.

Also, when waiting to pull out of a side road or parking lot, keep in mind that some people with their signal light on, indicating they will turn into the driveway or parking lot might not.... wait for them to commit to the turn until you pull out, otherwise you could end up being T-boned. Elderly people, especially with poor peripheral vision and hearing issues may not realize that they still have their signal light on.

Ensure that you have good wipers if inclement weather is expected, poor wiping ability is a safety hazard, as well make sure your tire pressures are proper, you have enough tread on the tires to prevent hydroplaning, and that the brakes are in good functioning order.

One of the things i tried to drill into my daughters head when i was teaching her to drive was to never be sitting in a center median waiting to turn with your wheels already because if someone ever rear ends you while sitting there you are going to be pushed out into oncoming traffic which will just lead into another accident.

The biggest piece of safety advice I can give is to watch the other drivers. For example....
One needs to be VERY aware of oncoming traffic on secondary highways. Some drivers get so anxious to pass other cars that they make extremely risky and dangerous passing maneuvers which can lead up to head on collisions. Need to be ready to move over to the shoulder when you see these dumbassses.........or possibly inexperienced drivers who don't yet realize how much space they need.

Special novice plates for new drivers might be nice for the experienced drivers to give notice to watch them more carefully or give them more room when they're around.

To add to that, watch for out of state plates.

Keep your finger on the High-beam flasher, as well as hug the outside to be seen, same comes with two lanes , you're in the correct lane(right) while coming up on someone wanting to turn left from the on coming traffic side, and there's some one using the left lane as their cruise lane just ahead of you.......... they're going to want to turn as soon as the car in front of you gets past them.............. Don't be in a position where they can't see you.

Turn signals are not asking for permission, They are a signal!!!
Don't trust them(signals)..........also it's not a sign to close them out............. and if you get into a wreak from doing so(by thinking you had the right-of-way, even if you do in some cases)........... it's still illegal to "take" the right of way, knowing it could result in an accident.

I should have worded it better, if you are turning use your best judgment they(signals) don't open traffic. Signals are for information, letting us as drivers know changes. Some people anticipate other cars getting ready to turn and speed up vs yielding, Just a reminder that when someone puts on a turn signal and has car lengths to safely maneuver its not asking for your permission but letting you know of a change of direction. Not all drivers signal and check mirrors before turning.

they make those... Honda enthusiasts already use them cause they are "sooooo JDM yo!"

Young driver: Soshinoya

and Elder Driver : Koleshiya

However, despite the obvious HP gains of such JDM stickers I don't think they do much for improving the drivers skill. Also the 80yr old in the fast lane with the left signal on drifting right...... experience means nothing.

One thing I've found that helps me a lot, is to watch the front wheel of other cars that are sitting/waiting to pull out, and other situations that give us hints as to the possible motion that a car might want to make, and how jerky the wheel moves.........ie; it doesn't sit still, but looks like it may launch at any sec. .......... be ready.

Without stepping on anyone's toes, it's MHO that I have as much light working for me as possible, ie; brake lights............... heading down a street with the sun at our backs makes it much more difficult for someone to see if I'm braking, and putting coatings over the brake lights doesn't help.
I actually had a cop pull me over in NC that was following me(I was on my MC, headlights required) and wrote a ticket because he said my brake light wasn't on.......... It was on, but he wasn't listening, this was in '72 and the brake light wasn't that bright back then.
I did beat it in court by getting the cop to testify he wrote the ticket from not seeing my taillight, as opposed to looking to see if my headlight was on or off........ there was no law saying I had to have my tail-light on, so I won.............. Karma............. but my point is tail-lights are hard to see with the sun shining on them.
