As far as the LFA is concerned they actually got their colleagues at Yamaha to tune the sound of the engine. And they did an amazing job in my opinion :)

Speaking of exhaust sounds........ I don't usually do this....BUT.... I came from behind a loud earlier model Japanese car and we ended up side-by-side front row at a stoplight no traffic............ a little background, When I see and hear these things, it always seems that the car is going in slow-mo vs the sound it's putting out, they just don't match up....... so as a wondering mind wants to know, we did a matched start when the light changed, no great ending we tied and I let him go after reaching 45mph...... So now I know......... not to say there aren't cars out there that have the right stuff in them........ Mines a 1.8 L

Since we're on the exhaust sound topic i love this video in which they compare Enzo and McLaren F1, both are beastly but one has no sound proofing and one does not. I have to say the McLaren sound is absolutely intoxicating. If i would ever afford a super car that's my kind of car, raw, stiff, loud and focused on performance only.

^ correction "I meant both are beastly but one has no sound proofing and one does" I guess I was still under the influence of the McLaren exhaust sound :)
