Do LED headlight bulbs actually illuminate enough?

OK so I have had several fog lights that I replaced with LED bulbs, when you look at them they are a bright diamond white, however they provide no real illumination as LEDs are very directional bulbs. I am not seeing a different type of LED bulb that claims 200 meters of illumination. Is this true? Are they good enough to drive with in the dark?

I like LED's bc they draw nothing for power, and last a longggg time.
Thanks fellas, if needed I can post the link I am seeing, but not sure if there is a vendor here so I don't want to jump to thatled1.JPG led2.JPG This is how they look

i think if youre gonna use LEDs it has to be in a retro type format. the nature of the light as you said is directional, it needs to be in a purpose built housing, not trying to pretend to be a halogen bulb

Absolutely, and Great point for anyone looking into LEDs. I think if they do make one with enough lumens, you'd have to have a projector style, unlike HID's which you can get away with w/o projector style

I heard rumors the DOT recently changed its regulations, new cars cant even use HIDs in reflector housings anymore, its projector or halogen (edit) or LED

Makes sense, they are blinding. It was really bad in my truck, but I almost never drove it at night anyways

So badass, thanks for the vids brutha! That's funny, those are the lights I posted the other day that I like the way they look, had no idea about the tech behind them though!

Didn't realize that was you. Those are the lights ethlar is having put into his accord headlight housing. He's got a company that has the guts of those lights above, and they're trying to place them into the headlight housings for his accord. Hopefully it won't be too much longer

Is there a way to get an update on the new mdx headlight retrofit? I love the jewel eyes and I'd say I would definitely pay to get that kind of setup.
