Cold air blowing into car

I noticed that when i have the fan/AC off and i am on the freeway, air still blows through the vents from outside. Its fine now i guess.. but last night it was about 55 degrees outside. Thats a temp where the inside of the car is very comfortable with the windows up and the fan off, but then i had ice cold air blowing inside of the car. the only way i could stop it was to turn the heat on to bring the inside temp up to room temp.

Whats going to happen in the winter when the air is 5 degrees? is there any way to stop this?

if the fan is off, shouldn't it be blowing -no- air? its not just a little air, it feels like the fan is on like 3 or 4

The fan may be off. But if recirculation is off that means the vents to the outside world are open so the faster you go the harder it will blow through. If you have the temp dial on cold it should be ambient temp air. If its on hot the air will be heated even if the fan is off.

What you said..... I'm just going to add a little "back when" , There use to be on older cars a trap door that we could open or close to get free flowing fresh air(which generally only fed though the passenger floor side). Now the recycle acts as the trap door closed when fan is off.......Now it's a much better system, but in most cases the fan will be running to get what you want.
Also remember in the winter to run the ac with the heat to keep the windows from fogging up.

Yep I remember that. And good recommendation on running ac with heater. It will pull the moisture out of the incoming air :)

When you turn on defrost, it runs the a/c compressor even though you have the temp set to warm/hot air. This is normal for all cars.
