Chances are this has been asked before-- but has anyone here ever imported a car to the US? Is it worth doing? I have a general idea of what's involved, but I've really only ever successfully navigated one dealership purchase.

Like 4-5 grand if I’m not mistaken. I could be way off though.

It’s a huge process depending on if the model was ever crash tested here in the US as well as the age of the car. I’ve never done it, but I’ve read quite a bit about the process from companies that import cars into the US.

@webby I looked up the process for getting newer cars over--it's no joke. I would only be interested in a 25-year rule car. The import paperwork and fees along with figuring out how to get it from probably Galveston to my house looks like the weird part. I'm loosely in the market for a cute lil' Honda Beat.

...Also-- it seems like importers are disproportionately bringing over R32s? Do people really like Skyline GTRs that much?

maybe a motorcycle would easy
I wanted a motorcycle until I saw this. Now I want a scooter.

Thanks, @webby !

It looks like they give deductions for people who physically go and have the car brought over -- which I might do.
