Auto Headlight Off

So I pulled the key out of the ignition, closed my door, and left the headlights on, but they turned off after a few seconds.

I'm guessing because I have an auto headlight off timer set. Does this setting drain the battery at all because although the headlights are off, it's still at the on position inside the car.

This is an '13 EX btw.

If you'll notice, other things as well turn off later after you get out, like the interior over head lights.
It's probably better to set the timer so the head lights cut off sooner than later, but what @webby said...

It's designed that way. It won't drain the battery once it turns the lights off.

So I assume when I go back to start the car in the morning, the headlights will automatically be on? Does this put more stress on the battery, starter, etc. because your lights are on before starting the car?

Your DRL will come on automatically. The headlights will come on slightly after the sensor can see that it is dark outside or not, if your headlights are set to AUTO.

My headlights will always turn on slightly after turning the car on since I have a garage and headlights are set to AUTO.

Even if you leave the headlights set on ON, it will put slightly more stress on the car but not enough to worry about.

Cars and MC's have been wired since the government passed the lights on laws, so they shut off during start up(auto or not).
While we on this subject, and since you show an interest, let's say you want to get in your car and turn the key on, "But not start it", so you can listen to music or what ever....... Head lights on a full 55watts is the biggest draw.
So if you want to do this, there's a way to turn the key on with out the lights coming on.......... Before you turn the key on, make sure your hand brake(E-brake) is on, that way you can sit in your car with out the lights coming on. Upon the release of the hand brake the head lights will come on. Even if you start the car the lights stay off until the E-brake is released.
