Hi from NE Ohio. I'm a 46 year old dad. Decided I wanted another stick shift to drive so I just bought a new 2012 Si coupe (black). I had been driving a 2007 Civic EX and have put 190,000 miles on it already, which I just gave to the family to use while I enjoy my new Si. I don't really plan on doing any mods to my car. I just love driving it. Love reading about other Civic owners and their cars.

I've read how Consumer Reports didn't like the 2012 much. Not sure what their problem is. I love mine and don't regret buying it at all. I get the feeling that the people here all feel the same way. Guess that is why we are here to talk about our cars.

Webby... Well I had been driving the Civic EX since September of 06. I like the car as it has been a comfortable and dependable ride. Yes it has 190,000 miles on it but it still runs like it did when I brought it home. That is a Honda for you. I had to get it with an automatic transmission due to the family not being able to drive a stick. The 4 door EX has more room than the Si but since two of my 3 kids are all over 18 and drive other cars I went for the 2 door coupe. Feels more like a sports car than I ever expected. Well, I'm middle aged but not dead. Climbing into the Si was like sliding into a glove. The seats hold me in tight and the layout of everything is perfect for me. I look for reasons to drive my car now. I try not to run hard through gears for gas reasons but every now and again it is too tempting to pass. Fall will be here soon and that will be more reasons to get out and drive it!

MrsJrotax101 & Redsfan. I will get a pic or two up soon. Need to wash it already.

What I didn't realize was how much work it was going to be to maintain a black Si. But yes, it looks so very nice when cleaned up. I may end up taking stock in washing supplies. Still thinking about black wheels and maybe an aero kit. I really want the black wheels though. Just need to find some I can't live without.

Check out Plasti-dip as a cheap solution if you like the stock Si rims.

Hmm, you remembered that? Once I saw pics of black wheels on a black Si I can't help myself.

Cool dad? I'm laughing. I think my kids might say something but not sure it was that. I think my youngest is hoping to get my Si when he starts driving in 5 or 6 years. We'll see. I may need a new one by then. With black wheels of course.

Because it is a Honda it should have a lot of life left in it by the time he gets around to driving. Will give me an excuse to go buy a new one. My old 07 EX sedan was handed down when I got my new Si. 190k and it still looks, drives, sounds new.

Going to try plasti dip on my wheels tomorrow. Yes I will take pics. When I ran out to summit racing to pick up the plasti dip I opened up the Si for the first time. Well almost opened it up. I don't think I really made full use of the engine yet but I will say that at the end of the on ramp we were doing 90 and I really didn't realize it. Won't be doing that very often! I think I was still in 4th gear too. Totally impressed with my Si and think it needs black wheels so that is going to be my project tomorrow.
