Saw, on toyota.com, that they now have the newly designed Corolla up.

Looks pretty good, as does the interior, . . . and boasts pretty good MPG figures. Tempting, but IMO the Civic still beats it.

Comments on the new Corolla?

Link for the lazy.

Idk if I like it. Didn't they just do a refresh a year or two ago on the Corolla?

It definitely looks more, sleek? I don't like the butt, the front is meh. Interior is nice though.

:bleh:

^^ That is for the L, LE, & S

Contrast that with the LE Eco:

1.8-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC 16-Valve with Valvematic technology; 140 hp @ 6100 rpm, 126 lb.-ft. @ 4000 rpm

Also, the L only comes in a manual 6 speed. Why the hell does this puny engine need a 6 speed?

I don't know what to say about Toyotas redesigns besides that the models are looking very boxy. I like the exterior of the last gen.

I said this elsewhere but the new Corolla's look like the new Dodge Dart!

Toyota's webpage for the Corolla leaves a LOT to be desired when it comes to photos, especially interior shots. The last few images are of people, for pete sake! That's a miss, in my opinion, for their marketing.

I haven't looked at the curb weight, but I'd wager the new one is much heavier than the 03

Heck, look at the 8 and 9 speed automatic transmissions they're installing in cars.

'03 Civic LX: 2400lbs
'14 Corolla: 2900 lbs

Wow. Big difference in weight!

Let em do it on an automatic. City driving would suck on economically-minded cars with that many gears. Just imagine how short the gears are on the Corolla. That or you may rarely use 5th and 6th.

The new 11thgen Corolla is a Miss for Toyota IMHO.

I own and 10thgen ('10 S besides my '13 Civic) and have owned a 9thgen Corolla ('07 S) and the new styling wise is way off (Looks like the Avalon and Camry had a love child). I had yet to test drive the new one to compare but based on reviews its decent.

Saw a red one go down the road yesterday afternoon. Those LED headlights are quite brilliant, actually. The car looked good.

Toyota has been having some recalls lately. I wonder if they are falling on their product? I won't be getting the first ones [won't be buying until this time next year], so if there are problems with the new design of the Corolla, hopefully they will manifest by that time. Never the less, . . . the new Corolla is a serious contender for me when I eventually go to buy.

Seems like they're trying to copy competition as far as styling goes. It falls well short IMO.
