i was told at a Honda dealership that if they removed my thermostat to fix the radiator (I had coolant leaking just above the radiator) that there is a very high possibility that my thermostat would break meaning they would need to replace it. Just wondering if this is true?
 
It's possible. The thermostat is built into a plastic housing that connects the lower radiator hose. Usually it's best to just unbolt the thermostat from the block and leave the hose attached.
Other option is to replace everything while you are in there. Hoses, thermostat, rad cap.how many miles are on the car?

Yeah at the mileage I would go ahead and replace everything anyways. Pretty straightforward job.
